Save money on printer ink

If you are near your printer, look at it for a moment and think about the last time you had to replace the ink cartridge. Was it a hassle? Was it expensive? Was it time-consuming? Was it confusing? Probably the answer was yes to all four questions!

People often consider printer ink as a curse rather than a useful product since it never seems to be full when you have a big print job, and it can be very expensive to replace. After all, everybody knows that the printer manufacturers take a loss on their printers and making huge profits on their printer ink! There are alternatives however, instead of having to go out and buy a replacement cartridge each and every time. Here are some options for you.

You can choose to fill the printer ink yourself, which can be messy, but is probably the most cost effective method. Kits are available in most department stores and office supply stores.

All you do is remove the cartridge and use a syringe to inject ink into the cartridge? then you put the same cartridges back into your printer. Easy! Messy, but inexpensive and easy!

Alternatively, you can take your printer cartridges to a mall kiosk and they may be able to refill or replace your printer cartridges at a very affordable price.

The only challenge to refilling or replacing your ink cartridges is if you use cartridges that are not made by the manufacturer. They claim that installing off-brand printer ink cartridges will void your warranty. Some people argue, though, that printers are so affordable anyway that it is cheaper to chance the loss of warranty than to replace the ink cartridges.

Another option is to order your ink supplies online. If you find an printer ink supplier online, you may find one who can conveniently offer you inexpensive on-brand ink cartridges that won't void your warranty, or very inexpensive ink cartridges that may void your warranty.

The nice thing, though is that many place offer free delivery if you have a minimum order. This takes part of the hassle out of buying your printer ink cartridges.

Printer ink can be a very annoying and expensive process. But it doesn't have to be. There are alternatives for the person who is diligent enough to look around and see how they can save some money and time and aggravation.

Toner Cartridges

A toner cartridge is used in laser printers or photocopier and contains electrically charged ink that is fused to the paper during the printing process. Toner is a form of dry ink used to print images that covers a page more efficiently than liquid ink. It is also less expensive than liquid ink.

Toner cartridges were invented in 1938 for a process of printing called electro photography. In 1978, a fine-tuned laser printer using a toner cartridge was introduced, thanks to advances in technology, but the price was very high. The challenge of making it more affordable was solved in 1984 when the LaserJet printer with a replaceable toner cartridge hit the market.

Most toner cartridges can be easily recycled, refilled or remanufactured. Most popular machine brands of toner cartridge are HP, Panasonic, Canon, Epson, Lexmark, Xerox, Sharp and Konica Minolta.

Different toner-based hardware includes laser printers, laser copiers, inkjet cartridges, color cartridges,...

Do I need to buy name-brand replacement ink cartridges?

No way! Name brand replacements are often twice or three-times more expensive than compatible or remanufactured ink cartridges. And that's not it. Compatible and remanufactured ink cartridges are of equal or better quality than name-brand replacements.
Remanufactured printer cartridges are completely cleaned and refilled with premium ink. Compatible cartridges are built just like name brand cartridges and filled with similar ink.

Printer manufacturers "recommend" that you buy their replacement ink simply because they rely on cartridge sales for survival. Don't be apprehensive about buying remanufactured or compatible ink cartridges. They really are just as good ? and you'll save yourself 75-85% every time your ink runs out..

No Use Crying Over Spilled Ink

The dreaded blinking light, it happens to the best of us. Your school project is due in one hour or your boss wants a copy of the latest business report on his desk as soon as possible, preferably before the early morning meeting with the president. The only problem is there?s no more ink left in your printer! Think about this: how much money have you spent over the last year on replacing your empty ink cartridges? If you need a stiff drink (or two!) after calculating the total, you?re not alone! The prices of ink cartridges seem to cost more then the printers themselves. So what is one to do? A great solution is to refill your ink cartridge yourself. While it might sound complicated or difficult, it?s a lot easier than you might think.

And cheaper, not to mention the fact that it?s environmentally friendly. Though most households don?t use the same amount of ink as businesses or schools do, everyone can benefit from the savings. But what exactly is involved with ink refills?...

Printer Ink

There are as many varieties of printer ink as there are manufacturers. There is no standardization in the composition of printer ink. All manufacturers of popular brands of printers develop their own variety of printer ink, which works well only with their products. The formula of the printer ink is a closely guarded secret, and is patented by these manufacturers. Epson, Hewlett Packard and Canon spend huge amounts of money in developing their own brands of ink, which are supposed to give superior prints on any type of media.

Printer ink is either dye-based or pigment-based.

Pigment-based ink is superior to dye-based ink, with respect to fade resistance and water resistance properties.

Once the cartridge in the printer runs out of printing ink, a replacement has to be looked for. The options are many. Along with the manufacturer's printer ink cartridges, there are third-party manufacturers who sell their own brands of compatible cartridges. They also...
